Il progetto sperimentale “La memoria di un filo”, nasce
dalla passione e dalla curiosità atavica di ripercorrere un percorso imitativo
e sperimentale di vita primitiva; coscienti che lo studio e la sperimentazione
diretta delle tecnologie, sono la chiave indispensabile per comprendere la
cultura di un popolo in un determinato periodo del nostro passato.
Questo progetto ha come obbiettivo principale la
realizzazione di un capo d’abbigliamento, ottenuto attraverso tutti i vari
passaggi che iniziano dalla semina di una pianta. La fibra utilizzata, è una fibra vegetale ricavata dai
gambi della pianta del lino. Tutto il lavoro che si svolgerà per ottenere il prodotto
finale, sarà eseguito senza l’uso di apparecchiature elettriche o meccaniche e
con pochissimi strumenti da utilizzare. Le vere artefici di questo progetto saranno le nostre
mani. Nel percorso del
progetto, che vedrà fra l’altro la costruzione di un telaio verticale a pesi, e
di un telaio a cinghia per la tessitura, fusi, ed altri attrezzi per lavorare
le fibre, compresi oggetti in argilla, come pesi da telaio e fusaiole, entreremo
anche in altre tematiche legate alla vita primitiva, come l’accensione del
fuoco, la lavorazione dell’argilla per produrre ceramica, realizzazione di
cordame e la tintura naturale delle fibre.
Un progetto quindi ad ampio raggio, che non pone limiti
alla sperimentazione.
Il progetto vuole anche “vivere” di un valore aggiunto:
riportare la nostra memoria sui gravi abusi che l’uomo sta portando
all’ambiente e di conseguenza alla biodiversità.
A causa dell’inquinamento, stiamo modificando il clima e
l’ambiente, mettendo sotto stress interi ecosistemi. La perdita di biodiversità a causa dell’estinzione di
molte specie, crea notevoli ripercussioni negative sul nostro pianeta. Il
progetto “La memoria di un filo”, vuole far riflettere anche su questo tema, e
promuovere la sostenibilità. #memoriadiunfilo
The
experimental project “La memoria di un filo” ("A Thread’s memory"),
arises from the passion and atavistic curiosity to recall an imitative and
experimental path of primitive life; we are aware that the study and the direct experimentation
of technologies are the indispensable
key to understanding people’s culture in a particular period of our past.
This
project has a main goal: the creation of a piece of clothing achieved through all the steps starting from the sowing of a plant.
The
fiber which is used is a vegetable one obtained
from the stems of the flax plant.
All the
work taking place to obtain the final product will be performed without the use
of electrical or mechanical equipment and with very few tools to use.
The real
architects of this project will be our hands.
We will build a vertical warp-weighted loom, a
belt loom for weaving and spindles.
Furthermore we will also devise other tools to
work the fibers, included objects in clay, such as loom weights and whorls.
During the project we will enter other issues related to primitive life, such
as lighting the fire, clay processing to produce ceramic, making cordage and
dyeing natural fibers.
A
project ,then, that is so broad-reaching, and doesn’t put limits to
experimentation.
The
project wants to "live" on an added value, too: to bring back our
memory to the serious abuses man is causing to environment and therefore to
biodiversity.
Due to
pollution, we are changing the climate and the environment, putting under
stress the whole ecosystems.
The loss of biodiversity because of a lot species’ extinction creates
notable negative consequences to our
planet. The project "A Thread’s memory" wants to make us think about this theme, too, and to
promote sustainability.
